Exploring novel travel destinations where you can visit and also stay at in the U.S. can offer unique and memorable experiences that differ from traditional tourist spots. Here are some popular and also lesser-known but fascinating destinations across the country:

Dog Bark Park Inn, Idaho

In Cottonwood, the Dog Bark Park Inn is a bed and breakfast inside a giant beagle. Guests enter through the dog’s belly, and the rooms are decorated with dog-themed furniture and artwork, making it a must-visit for dog lovers.

Hicksville Trailer Palace, California

In Joshua Tree, this retro-themed trailer park offers a variety of uniquely decorated trailers. Guests can enjoy amenities like a saltwater pool, mini-golf, and a rooftop hot tub, all while being close to Joshua Tree National Park.

Jules’ Undersea Lodge, Florida

Located in Key Largo, this underwater hotel offers guests the chance to stay 21 feet beneath the sea in a former research lab. Guests can scuba dive to their rooms and enjoy panoramic views of marine life from their windows. Being claustrophobic I am not sure I can sleep here but I love the idea of this.

The Queen Mary, California

This historic ocean liner docked in Long Beach offers a unique lodging experience with its original Art Deco design, haunted history, and various tours and exhibits. I toured the ship as a child and have always been fascinated by the history and beauty of this era.

The Vortex, Oregon

The Out’n’About Treesort near Cave Junction offers a variety of treehouses where guests can stay. Each treehouse is different, providing a unique blend of rustic charm and adventure. Activities include zip-lining and horseback riding. Ohhh I really need to add this to my travel list.

Winvian Farm, Connecticut

In Litchfield Hills, Winvian Farm features whimsical cottages, each with a unique theme. Guests can stay in a treehouse, a lighthouse, or even a helicopter-themed cottage, all set within 113 acres of beautiful countryside.

I realize some of these (or all) sound a little kitschy but what a fun way to create a new experience for your family, a milestone birthday or anniversary or girls weekend. These destinations provide not only a place to stay but also an unforgettable experience due to their unique themes, histories, and locations.
