Or in this case facing MY fears at 50, actually now 60. Turning 50 can be a pivotal moment for many of us, often accompanied by a mix of reflection, fear, and excitement about the future. This stage of life is a time when many women choose to confront their fears and embrace new opportunities, living life to the fullest. I recently celebrated a milestone birthday-my 60th- and with my special day I took time to reflect on how I want to celebrate this very special birthday.

Definition of fear: : an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger.

My way of celebrating was to cross a few things off my bucket list. And that brings me back to facing my fears-tandem skydiving-talk about the awareness of danger! Not only did the idea of jumping out of a plane freak me out but I am so claustrophobic that being strapped to another person in a small plane raised every hair on my neck. But my claustrophobia and all of the questions that go along with jumping out of a plane were not going to stop me. In fact it almost forced me to the challenge. And guess what? I survived. And quite honestly it was one of the most awesome events in my life-once I trusted my partner, once I realized there was no way I was going to cancel I let my fears go and enjoyed the entire ride.

Another way I am going to celebrate this new decade, in addition to celebrating with friends an family, is to take a trip to a new destination a location I have not been to before. I chose Majorca, Spain.  My birthday gift to me is to travel. Pics and stories to come.

Celebrating the Journey

Ultimately, the journey of facing fears at 50+ is about self-discovery, empowerment, and living life on one’s own terms. Whether it’s through small steps or major life changes, women are proving that 50 is a time to thrive, grow, and truly live their best life.
