If you follow me you know that I believe that its never too late-never too late to buy your first home, lose weight, travel to exotic places, find your dream partner, save for retirement, and most important live a healthier life. And thats what todays post is all about.

Simple habits done daily can lead to huge successes. Please read this book: The Slight Edge

Mental Stimulation: After coffee-please do not call or talk to me before I have finished my first cup, I start each day with 10 minutes of reading non fiction. Sometimes educational, sometimes motivational but always something new that stimulates my mind. For you it might be a puzzle, word game or learning a new skill.

Regular Exercise: Every day I commit to some form of exercise. If this is new for you start small start with just 10 minutes, everyone has 10 minutes in there day for a healthier lifestyle. If you start small you can stick with it and once you see the results you are guaranteed to continue. Buy a smart watch, I have a friend who was not one to exercise and not at all athletic, but once she committed to walking each and every day she started monitoring her steps and voila it was a challenge to herself to keep it up. Two months turned into over a year and still going strong-you can do it too!

Mindful Eating: Yes I realize this has become an overused term but honestly it works. By being mindful or paying attention to what you eat and how you eat, like slowing down between mouthfuls, you will find yourself filling up faster and being more aware of what you are putting in your mouth-like healthy fruits, veggies and whole grains.

Adequate Sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep per night. I really became aware of how important sleep is when I was in menopause and had way too many sleepless nights. I found myself with low energy and super forgetful. Now post menopause and sleeping thru the night I am back to being energized.

Breathe Deeply: This is so simple and yet it works! I have seen the benefits of breathing deeply right before I go to bed, and yet I still forget to do it. Trust me and try this and let me know if you do not find yourself sleeping better. Also, breath deeply throughout the day to reduce stress and lower your blood pressure.
