Celebrate the 4th of July

Who doesn’t love a 4th of July celebration? Tradition, barbecue, potato salad, s’mores, friends/family, and of course fireworks. In our small town of Sonoma, like many small towns, families get up early to stake their claim on their favorite location on the square to watch the parade. The same spot where friends can find each other every year, a tradition that has lasted  multi generations.

Listed are some of the most popular US cities for Fourth of July festivities:

  1. Washington, D.C.:

    • National Mall Fireworks: A grand display over the iconic landmarks.
    • A Capitol Fourth Concert: Live music performances on the Capitol’s West Lawn.

  2. New York City, New York:

    • Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks: One of the largest fireworks displays in the country, often set off from barges in the East River.
    • Celebrations in Coney Island: Including the famous Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.

  3. Boston, Massachusetts:

    • Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular: A concert by the Boston Pops Orchestra followed by a massive fireworks show over the Charles River.

  4. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania:

    • Wawa Welcome America Festival: Multiple days of events leading up to the Fourth, including concerts, fireworks, and historical reenactments.

  5. San Diego, California:

    • Big Bay Boom: A large fireworks show over San Diego Bay, visible from multiple locations around the city.

  6. Chicago, Illinois:

    • Navy Pier Fireworks: A beautiful display over Lake Michigan, along with live music and entertainment at Navy Pier.

  7. San Francisco, California:

    • Fireworks over the Bay: Fireworks launched from barges near Pier 39, viewable from various waterfront locations.

  8. Nashville, Tennessee:

    • Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th: A massive celebration with live country music and a big fireworks show downtown.

  9. New Orleans, Louisiana:

    • Go 4th on the River: A fireworks extravaganza on the Mississippi River, accompanied by live music and entertainment.

  10. Las Vegas, Nevada:

    • Las Vegas Strip Fireworks: Various casinos and resorts host fireworks displays, along with numerous concerts and parties.
